Visiting Tate Modern
Good primar exercises
We try to capture the emotions/ feelings of the art work. Then we read, comprehend , express the message of the artwork. It was hard to do but trying to see through the symbols, signs, gestures of the object. The best founding is everyone sees things differently, the messages we received from the work differs with others.
I like abstracts.
I like abstract forms.
I like imperfect lines or marks.
I like the way of drawing the object that the drawing doesn't really look like the actual object. You can sense its existence , you may know what it is, but it doesn't look like what you thought it is. Just like a SURPRISE, which the artist offers. It won't please you , but it entertains you. You have to guess or imagine. The work gives a hint of mystery. Thats what I learnt from the thursday exercises.
Swapping sketchbooks and make a work - Round 1
It took me loads of time to think. I had 4 days. And I have been using all of these days to think over and over again. I have been very unsatisfied with most of my preceding ideas. Then, I came up with the good one at last. I made Sailor Potato. I wish to boost the self esteem of the sick potato chair. ( the original work)

TUESDAY
Swapping sketchbooks and make a work - Round 2
We swapped sketchbooks again and made a work. This time I got a video and a figure. The figure which Coral made , was very interesting. She fried a tissue paper figure in a pan. It burnt. The whole thing gave me a feeling of death and being rotten. But the figure was facing up. seemed like it was still hoping for a rescue or a rebirth.
So I put plants in a bottle of oil. Plants cant live in oil. They die. In the meantime, the plant was still facing up, hoping to grab a hint of sunshine.
THURSDAY
Presentation
Capturing the essence of a work was amazing. You get a mood or a feeling, rather than drawing its shape or shadows only.
