I have to say that this show plan wasn't very good. We got around 3-4 days. but only 2 of us came in on the first few days. The progress was extremely slow because we had very few things to hang at that time. Only before the show starts, out group mates came in and hung their work. So i didn't see good planning and corperation. Oh One of us (Taren?!) did not show up at all.
By the way, I am really proud of my flag, my 3D intestine flag. Made of nude tights, wire and cotton. Brilliantly made haha
At first i didn't like the brief of this author project. I thought there was already too much fun in the brief and tasks , and thus we might not be able to create work with much more fun. I don't know if i could make satisfying work. But it went on, the project was just really making me happy. The costume. I am so so glad that I didn't make a whole structure from head to toe. I love tights and the pillow stuffings. I think I have improved most from this project. I used to make sort of costume fashion in secondary school, in paper fashion competition. I made big structure frames and large pieces, so it looked dramatic. In fact, all other contestants made street fashion pieces, which is that kind of clothes you normally wear, but in paper.

The animation wasn't very good. I was too ambitious over the clip. And our group too. The sound wasn't quite right. especially the background music WILD CHINA. So awkward to have china and biological sciences together. Plus the sips micmic sound (when my creature crawls) was a bit too much. My clip could have been shorter in length. Repetitive movements were good but it should be too long. It needs more story.
So the story flow didn't go very well. Some transitions were missing. The narration is probably the only obvious connection in all creatures. Til now I wasn't quite sure how we should unite all our scenes together in a nice way. If we are making a better flow of the story, we have to do it again from stretch.
1. stylise all our clips
2. make more transitions between creatures. longer ones so the main parts can take a rest from transiting to other big scenes.
3. a whole new story. but it may become more fictional than scientific.
The zines. They were brilliant. I love the B&W. The images looks quite united. I love the big ones we made together (map and habitat). They look exciting. I love work that is exciting. They aren't beautiful but there was fun in it. The only thing I feel quite disappointing was the template. Each creature got a page, at the same time someone else's image will be placed in the middle of another person's image, in an oval shape.
This oval shape was actually very disturbing. But I don't have an alternative. Oh this oval template was made because we want to show the chain or the flow of the creatures in their biological cycle. Okay it started to be a bit "geeky". Maybe we got too obsessed with this idea. Everyone really wants to make it like a whole thing so all of our work look connected. We got so stuck into this frame. kind of sad cause we could have done better in the zines.
Oh yah did i talk about the miniature of my creature in my animation? That was like the cutest object I have ever made this year. (the butts came second!) so proud of it.
Gonna make a gif or whatever animation on Sunday. Hope it will work out well.
